I also realized that achieving this balance, while it will take a lot of work, is the key to fulfilling and…

Moving into the Dorm

Is anyone else sending a kid off to college, right now? We are moving into the dorms this week! I thought I would share a quick list of things we are making sure to take. This is our second year, and we have a son that is an athlete. The main priorities are being able to have extra calories in the evening, and being able to keep the dorm room clean. Even though there is limited room, I highly recommend you buy a second set of bedding. Late night studying sometimes requires a drink and a snack. With the most…

Back to School Routine

I love summers! I don’t have to wake up extra early and take time to wake all the kids up. I don’t have to argue with anyone when it’s time for bed! But, the time has come for all the things to get back on track. We are getting back to taking our vitamins, waking up on time, and going to bed earlier. For vitamins, we definitely suggest a good multivitamin. I cannot stress enough how important it is for your child (and you) to be on a probiotic! 7 Kinds of Rest

In a TED Ideas post, Saundra Dalton-Smith insists “we go through life thinking we’ve rested because we have gotten enough sleep — but in reality we are missing out on the other types of rest we desperately need” and outlines the seven types of rest that are essential for human flourishing.  1. Physical Rest This is the type of rest we’re all familiar with. But while we know we need to spend a decent number of hours asleep to stay healthy, a vast amount of studies show a large proportion of us still don’t get enough.  2. Mental Rest Are you constantly…
